Capacity Building for CSOs working with vulnerable populations in Southern Libya: Building Resilience, Inclusion and Social Cohesion in Fezzan

The "Capacity Building for Civil Society Organizations working with vulnerable populations in Southern Libya: Building Resilience, Inclusion and Social Cohesion in Fezzan" project was implemented by Team for Training and Development in partnership with ACTED. The intervention focused on enhancing service provision by working with 48 individuals from 16 local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in 2022. The project aimed to support organizations and authorities working with vulnerable populations, such as children, women, girls, youth, elderly, disabled, and other marginalized groups.

Two in-person training programs were held in Benghazi, Libya, followed by a virtual Training of Trainers (ToT) and personalized follow-up sessions with practical work-based assignments. The training sessions covered various topics, including humanitarian principles, protection, targeting, data protection, field visits, awareness-raising sessions, feedback and complaint systems, and psychological first aid. Participants engaged in presentations, group activities, role plays, and interactive discussions to deepen their understanding of each topic. The virtual ToT program focused on child protection, covering topics such as protection principles, childhood risks, bullying, violence in schools, and teaching methods.

The project's success can be attributed to its comprehensive approach, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among participants and emphasizing the importance of knowledge transfer and real-world application. The project has laid the foundation for long-term, sustainable improvements in the Fezzan region's humanitarian response efforts, ultimately contributing to a safer and more supportive environment for vulnerable populations within their local communities
